A logistical challenge and a major achievement: Schmack Biogas is carrying out simultaneous construction projects in four European countries
Bolzano, 10 March 2022. Italy, Greece, Estonia and Belgium: the map of Schmack Biogas’ construction sites is a tour of Europe. A logistical challenge that has been met thanks to the extensive experience in handling complex construction sites that the Bolzano-based company, part of the PLC Group, has accumulated over the years.
The Italian construction sites include the EUCO® Titan FORSU biomethane plant fed by organic waste, under construction in Marsala, and the realization of the biomethane upgrading plant for the San Rocco al Porto biomethane plant. For both sites, work is expected to be completed in the last quarter of 2022.
After completion of the construction work, the equipping of the 500 kW COCCUS® Titan plant in Arta, Greece, began. This is the third Schmack Biogas plant in Greece.
In Maardu, not far from the capital Tallinn, the construction of Estonia’s first plant is also underway: once completed, the EUCO® Titan FORSU plant will be the largest anaerobic digestion plant in the Baltic country.
Finally, the complex construction site in Geer, Belgium, is also progressing rapidly. Here, Schmack Biogas is building a new COCCUS® Titan biogas plant fed with agricultural and agro-industrial waste, as well as revamping an existing anaerobic digestion plant next the new one.
